Biase Towns And Villages

Biase is a Local Government Area in Cross River State, Nigeria, with its headquarters at Akpet Central. The area covers 1,310 square kilometres in the state’s southern senatorial district, split into 11 wards: Abayong, Adim, Agwagune/Okurike, Akpet/Abini, Biakpan, Ehom, Erei North, Erei South, Ikun/Etono, Umon North and Umon South.

The 2006 census counted 168,113 residents. A 2022 projection puts the figure near 256,000. Biase brings together five clans – Umon, Egup Ipa, Erei, Ehom and Ubaghara – along the Cross River, where fishing and farming (cassava, yam, maize, palm produce) anchor the local economy.
