Bekwarra Towns And Villages

Bekwarra is a Local Government Area in northern Cross River State, Nigeria, on the border with Benue State. Its headquarters is Abuochiche, on the A4 highway. The area covers about 306 square kilometres.

The 2006 census counted 105,497 residents. A 2022 projection puts the figure near 160,700. The LGA has ten wards: Abuochiche, Afrike Ochagbe, Afrike Okpeche, Beten, Gakem, Ibiaragidi, Nyanya, Otukpuru, Ugboro and Ukpah. Postal code 550102 covers the area.

Farming, groundnut trading, hunting and palm-wine production are the main livelihoods, alongside rice, maize, yam, cassava, pineapple, plantain and banana cultivation.
