Wilkinson County is a county in the middle of the state of Georgia in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 8,877 people living there.
Irwinton is the county seat.
On May 11, 1803, the county was made, and it was named after General James Wilkinson (1757–1825).
The county has a total area of 452 square miles (1,170 km2), of which 447 square miles (1,160 km2) are land and 4.6 square miles (12 km2) (1%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The county is mostly in the state’s upper Atlantic coastal plain, but it has some rolling hills because it is close to the fall line.
The Lower Oconee River sub-basin of the Altamaha River basin is where all of Wilkinson County is.
