Wheeler County is a county in the state of Texas in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 4,990 people living there.
Wheeler is the county seat.
The county was made in 1876, and in 1879 it was put together.
It is named after Chief Justice Royall Tyler Wheeler of the Texas Supreme Court.
Wheeler County used to be one of 30 counties in Texas that didn’t allow any alcohol.
But around 2010, the town of Shamrock, which is in Wheeler County at the intersection of Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 83, decided to allow liquor sales.
Wheeler County has only one place where you can buy alcohol, and that’s in the city of Shamrock.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 915 square miles (2,370 km2), of which 915 square miles (2,370 km2) are land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) (0.1%) is water.
