Valley County is a county in the U.S. state of Idaho. It is a rural county.
As of the census in 2020, there were 11,746 people living there.
The county seat is Cascade, and McCall is the biggest city.
It was founded in 1917 and named after the Long Valley of the North Fork of the Payette River, which runs for more than 30 miles (50 km) from Payette Lake at McCall south to Cascade and Round Valley.
The valley used to be a place for animals from the Boise Valley to spend the summer.
Since 1948, when the Cascade Dam was finished, the Cascade Reservoir has covered most of the northern valley.
The Idaho ground squirrel lives in Valley County.
The county has a total area of 3,733 square miles (9,670 km2), of which 3,665 square miles (9,490 km2) are land and 68 square miles (180 km2) (1.8%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
It has the fifth-largest area of any county in Idaho.
