The county was made in 1850, and in 1856 it was put together.
It is named after Juan de Ugalde, who was the Spanish ruler of Coahuila. Reading Wood Black started Uvalde County.
He also started the city of Uvalde, Texas.
The Uvalde, TX Micropolitan Statistical Area is made up of Uvalde County.
