It is pronounced /junt/ yoo-IN-t.
As of the 2020 United States Census, there were 35,620 people living there.
Vernal is the county seat and biggest city.
The part of the Ute Indian group that lived in the basin gave the county its name.
In 2008, 272 billion cubic feet of natural gas were made in Uintah County, which is the most in all of Utah.[3]
The whole of Uintah County is in the Vernal, UT Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The county covers a total area of 4,501 square miles (11,660 km2), of which 4,480 square miles (11,600 km2) are land and 22 square miles (57 km2) (0.5%) are water.
