Trigg County is a county in the U.S. state of Kentucky.
It is on the very southwestern edge of the state.
As of the census in 2020, there were 14,061 people living there.
Cadiz is the county seat.
When the county was made in 1820, it was named after Stephen Trigg, an officer in the American Revolutionary War who died at the Battle of Blue Licks, which is now in Robertson County, Kentucky. It was a win for the British and their allies.
Trigg stayed a prohibition or dry county after Prohibition ended until 2009.
In that year, voters in the county narrowly approved a referendum to end the ban on selling alcohol for use outside of the store.
The Clarksville, TN–KY Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Trigg County.
The US Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 481 square miles (1,250 km2), of which 441 square miles (1,140 km2) are land and 40 square miles (100 km2) (8.3%) are water.
