Tooele is the county seat and largest city.
The county was established in 1850 and incorporated the following year.
Tooele County is included in the Salt Lake City, UT Combined Statistical Area. According to a 2008 CNNMoney.com story, Tooele is the U.S. county with the most job growth since 2000.
The county has a predominantly northerly slope. Its highest point is Deseret Peak in the Stansburys, at 11,031 feet (3,362 metres) above sea level.
The county is 7,286 square miles (18,870 km2) in size, with 6,941 square miles (17,980 km2) of land and 345 square miles (890 km2) (4.7%) of water.
