Throckmorton is the county town.
The county was made in 1858, and in 1879, it was put together.
It is named after William Throckmorton, one of the first people to move to Collin County.
Throckmorton County is one of the five counties in Texas that still have prohibition, or are completely dry.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 915 sq mi (2,370 km2), of which 913 sq mi (2,360 km2) are land and 2.9 sq mi (7.5 km2) (0.3%) are water.
