Swift County is in the west central part of Minnesota.
It is 757 square miles (2,000 km2) and is divided into three levels of seven townships each.
It was founded on February 18, 1870, and named after Henry Adoniram Swift, who was the third governor of Minnesota from 1863 to 1864.
The county is 752 square miles (1,950 square kilometers) big, with 742 square miles (1,920 square kilometers) of land and 10 square miles (26 square kilometers) of water, or 1.3%.[9]
