Searcy County is a county in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Its name is pronounced “SUR-see.”
As of the census in 2020, there were 7,828 people living there. Marshall is the county seat.
The county was made out of a part of Marion County on December 13, 1838. It was named after Richard Searcy, who was the first clerk and judge in the Arkansas Territory.
Even though it was never a part of Searcy County, the city of Searcy, Arkansas, which is about 70 miles away, has the same name.
The county does not allow alcohol, so it is called a “dry county.”
