Scurry County is a county in the state of Texas in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 16,932 people living there.
The county seat is Snyder, which is also where Western Texas College is located.
General William Scurry of the Confederacy is honoured by the name of Scurry County.
The county was made in 1876, and in 1884 it was put together.
Scurry County was one of 46 prohibition or ‘dry’ counties in Texas until a vote in 2006 allowed the sale of beer and wine in Snyder and a vote in 2008 allowed the sale of spirits by the drink throughout the county.
The Snyder, Texas, micropolitan statistical area is in Scurry County.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 908 square miles (2,350 km2), of which 905 square miles (2,340 km2) are land and 2.1 square miles (5.4 km2) (0.2%) are water.
