It is the 23rd biggest city in Minnesota and the 16th biggest suburb of the Twin Cities.
In 1853, the county was made, and it was named after General Winfield Scott.
The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, MN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Scott County.
The US Census Bureau says that the county is 368 square miles (950 square kilometers) in size, with 356 square miles (920 square kilometers) of land and 12 square miles (31 square kilometers) of water, or 3.2%.
It has the third-smallest land area and the second-smallest total area of any county in Minnesota.
