Santa Fe County is in the U.S. state of New Mexico.
Its name in Spanish, Condado de Santa Fe, means “county of Holy Faith.”
As of the 2020 census, there were 154,823 people living there.
This made it the third most populous county in New Mexico, after Bernalillo County and Doa Ana County. Santa Fe, the state capital, is the county seat.
The Santa Fe metropolitan statistical area is part of Santa Fe County.
It is also part of the Albuquerque–Santa Fe–Las Vegas combined statistical area.
The county has a total area of 1,911 square miles (4,950 km2), of which 1,909 square miles (4,940 km2) are land and 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2) (0.08%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
It has the fifth-smallest land area of any county in New Mexico.
