Sainte Genevieve County, which is often written as Ste. Genevieve County (Ste-Geneviève in French), is a county in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Missouri.
As of the census in 2020, there were 18,479 people living there.Ste. Genevieve is the largest city and county seat.
The county was made official on October 1, 1812.
It is named for a Spanish district that used to be in the area, which was named for Saint Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris, France.
The county has a total area of 507 square miles (1,310 km2), of which 499 square miles (1,290 km2) are land and 7.6 square miles (20 km2) (1.5%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The Mississippi River forms the northeastern border of the county with Illinois.
