St. Francois County is a county in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is in the Lead Belt region.

As of the census in 2020, there were 66,922 people living there.

Farmington is the largest city and county seat.

On December 19, 1821, the county was officially set up. It got its name from the river St. Francis.

The Farmington, MO Micropolitan Statistical Area is part of St. Francois County. It is also part of the St. Louis-St. Charles-Farmington, MO-IL Combined Statistical Area.

As of the 2000 census, there were 55,641 people living in the county. There were 20,793 households and 14,659 families. There were 124 people per square mile (48 per km2) of land.

There were 24,449 dwellings, with an average of 54 per square mile (21 per km2).
