A county in the United States is called Rusk County.
The 2020 census found that there were 14,188 people living there.
City of Ladysmith is the county seat.
When it was first created in 1901, Rusk County was called Gates County, after a land investor from Milwaukee named James L. Gates.
In 1905, it was changed to Rusk County in honor of Jeremiah M. Rusk, who was governor of Wisconsin and the first U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.
The northern part of Chippewa County was used to make it.
In terms of land size, the county is 931 square miles (2,410 km2), with 914 square miles (2,370 km2) being land and 17 square miles (44 km2) (1.9%) being water.
