Rockland County is the southernmost county in New York, located on the west side of the Hudson River. It is included in the New York metropolitan area.
According to the 2020 United States Census, the county’s population is 338,329 making it the state’s third-most densely populated county outside of New York City (after Nassau and neighbouring Westchester Counties).
New City is the county seat and the largest city.
The county has a total area of 199.34 square miles (516.3 km2), of which 173.55 square miles (449.5 km2) are land and 25.79 square miles (66.80 km2) (13%) are water.
