Franklin is the county seat.
The county was made in 1837, and the next year it was set up.
It was named after an early settler, Sterling C. Robertson, who also signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.
In east-central Texas, Robertson County is part of the College Station-Bryan, TX metropolitan statistical area.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 865 sq mi (2,240 km2), of which 856 sq mi (2,220 km2) are land and 9.7 sq mi (25 km2) (1.1%) are water.
