Richmond is one of the 62 counties in the state of New York.
It is better known as Staten Island. It was made in 1683, making it one of the state’s first 12 counties.
In 1898, it became part of the city of New York. As of the 2010 census, there were 468,730 people living there.
In 2000, that number was 443,728. Only 58.48 square miles (151.5 km2) of the county’s 102.50 square miles (265.5 km2) are land.
As an island, it doesn’t have any land borders, but it is directly connected to Kings County (Brooklyn), Middlesex County, New Jersey, and Essex County, New Jersey.
