Real County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas located on the Edwards Plateau.
It had a population of 2,758 people as of the 2020 census.
Leakey is the county seat.[2] Julius Real (1860-1944), a former member of the Texas State Senate, is honoured with the county’s name.
The Alto Frio Baptist Encampment is located in Real County, southeast of Leakey, in a remote location.
The county has a total area of 700 square miles (1,800 km2), of which 699 square miles (1,810 km2) is land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2) (0.1%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
