The county of Potter is in the state of Pennsylvania.
As of the 2020 census, there were 16,396 people living there, which made it the fifth-least populated county in Pennsylvania.
Coudersport is the county seat.
In 1804 the county was made, and in 1836 it was put together.
It is named for James Potter, a general in the Continental Army from Pennsylvania during the American Revolution. It has been called “God’s Country” because it is far away and has a lot of natural beauty.
Potter County is near the Susquehanna Valley and the Allegheny Plateau.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,082 square miles (2,800 km2), of which 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2) (0.02%) is water.
