Pike County is a county in the U.S. state of Missouri.
It is on the eastern edge of the state, right next to the Mississippi River.
As of the census in 2020, there were 17,587 people living there.
Bowling Green is the county seat.
It was named after a city in middle Kentucky, from which a lot of early settlers came.
The county was made on December 14, 1818, and was named for the explorer Zebulon Pike. Most people think that the song “Sweet Betsy from Pike” comes from Pike County, Missouri.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 685 square miles (1,770 km2), of which 670 square miles (1,700 km2) are land and 14 square miles (36 km2) (2.1%) are water.
