Phillips County is a county in the state of Montana in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 4,217 people living there.
Malta is the county seat.
Before February 5, 1915, Phillips County was a part of Blaine County, and before 1912, both were a part of Chouteau County.
It was named after Benjamin D. Phillips, who was a rancher and a state senator.
Its northern edge is the border between Canada and the United States with Saskatchewan.
Its southern edge is set by the Missouri River.
The US Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 5,212 square miles (13,500 km2), of which 5,140 square miles (13,300 km2) are land and 72 square miles (190 km2) (1.4%) are water.
It has the second most land area and the third most total area of any county in Montana.
