Linden is the county seat and the largest town.

It is named after Oliver Hazard Perry, an American naval commander and War of 1812 hero.

Perry County is on the western outskirts of Middle Tennessee.

Perry County’s topography is typical of Tennessee’s Western Highland Rim region, with high ridges separating creeks flowing into the county’s two rivers.

Perry County’s highest point is approximately 980 feet (300 m) above sea level and is located on an unnamed ridge in the far southeastern portion of the county near the borders of Lewis and Wayne counties.
