Pecos County is a county in the state of Texas in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 15,193 people living there.
Fort Stockton is the county seat.
In 1871, the county was made, and in 1875, it was set up.
The Pecos River gave it its name. It is one of the nine counties in West Texas that make up the Trans-Pecos area.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 4,765 square miles (12,340 km2), of which 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) (0.02%) is water.
It has the second most land size of any county in Texas.
