Fort Valley is the county seat. Created on July 18, 1924, from Houston and Macon counties, it is the state’s newest county.
It is named after the peach since it is located in a peach-growing region.
Peach County is part of the Warner Robins, GA Combined Statistical Area, which is part of the Macon-Warner Robins, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The county has a total area of 151 square miles (390 km2), of which 150 square miles (390 km2) is land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) (0.7%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
It is Georgia’s fifth-smallest county in terms of land area.
