Weatherford is the county seat.
The county was made in 1855, and the next year it was set up.It is named after Isaac Parker, who was a state lawmaker and brought forward the bill that made the county official in 1855.
Parker County is part of the statistical area that includes Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 910 square miles (2,400 km2), of which 903 square miles (2,340 km2) are land and 6.6 square miles (17 km2) (0.7%) are water.
The Brazos River runs through the county.
