Ottawa County is a county in the northeastern corner of the United States state of Oklahoma.
The population was 30,285 at the time of the 2020 census.
Miami is the county seat.
The county was named after the Oklahoma Ottawa Tribe.
It also serves as the home of the federally recognized Modoc Nation and the Quapaw Nation, which is headquartered in Quapaw.
Ottawa County is part of the Joplin-Miami, MO-OK Combined Statistical Area, which includes the Miami, OK Micropolitan Statistical Area. The county shares borders with both Kansas and Missouri.
The county has a total area of 485 square miles (1,260 km2), of which 471 square miles (1,220 km2) is land and 14 square miles (36 km2) (2.8%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
It is the fourth-smallest county in Oklahoma in terms of land area.
The county’s eastern portion is in the Ozark Plains, while the western portion is in the Neosho Lowlands.
