Oceana County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan.
It is pronounced /oiaen/ OH-shee-AN-.
As of the 2020 Census, there were 26,659 people living there.
Hart is the county seat.
Long known as part of the large Ojibwe territory, the county was founded by European Americans in 1840 and put together in 1855.
Settlers moved there because of how easy it was to get to the White River, which empties into Lake Michigan in Muskegon County, which is to the south.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers a total area of 1,306 square miles (3,380 km2), of which 794 square miles (2,060 km2) are water and 512 square miles (1,330 km2) are land.
People think of the county as being in West Michigan. Lake Michigan is on the western edge of the county.
