This made it the 16th most popular county in the state.
Corpus Christi is the county seat.
The county was made from parts of San Patricio County in 1846, and it was set up the next year.
It’s called Nueces County after the Nueces River, which runs through the northwestern part of the county and empties into Nueces Bay, north of the port of Corpus Christi.
The Corpus Christi metropolitan statistical area includes Nueces County.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 1,166 square miles (3,020 km2), 838 square miles (2,170 km2) of which are land and 327 square miles (850 km2), or 28%, are water.
It is on the Gulf of Mexico’s coast.
