Mountrail County is a county in the northwest of the U.S. state of North Dakota.
As of the census in 2020, there were 9,809 people living there.
Stanley is the county seat.
The county was first made in 1873, but it was taken over by Ward County in 1892.
It was made again and put together in 1909.
The county covers a total area of 1,942 square miles (5,030 square kilometres), of which 1,825 square miles (4,730 square kilometres) are land and 116 square miles (300 square kilometres) are water, or 6%.
