Montcalm County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan.
It is pronounced /mntklm/ MAHNT-calm.
As of the 2020 Census, there were 66,614 people living there.
The county is in the part of the Lower Peninsula called “West Michigan.”
The county seat is in Stanton, and Greenville is the biggest city.[3] General Marquis Louis-Joseph de Montcalm was in charge of French troops during the French and Indian War.
The county is named after him. The county was made in 1831, and it was put together in 1850.
The Grand Rapids-Kentwood, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area includes Montcalm County.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 721 square miles (1,870 km2), of which 705 square miles (1,830 km2) are land and 15 square miles (39 km2) (2.1%) are water.
