The county of Mitchell is in the American state of Texas.

As of the census in 2020, there were 8,990 people living there.

Colorado City is the county seat.

The county was made in 1876, and in 1881 it was put together.

It is named for two early farmers and soldiers in the Texas Revolution named Asa and Eli Mitchell.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 916 square miles (2,370 km2), of which 911 square miles (2,360 km2) are land and 4.8 square miles (12 km2) (0.5%) are water.

Lake Colorado City and Lake Champion are two lakes in Mitchell County.
