Miller County is located in the southwestern corner of the United States state of Arkansas.
The population was 42,600 at the time of the 2020 census.
Texarkana is the county seat.
Miller County is included in the Texarkana, TX-AR Combined Statistical Area.
Miller County was Arkansas’ sixth county when it was established on April 1, 1820, and was named after James Miller, the first governor of the Arkansas Territory.
Miller County was also the first of the state’s counties to be established following the formation of the Arkansas Territory. Arkansas, Lawrence, Clark, Hempstead, and Pulaski were the first five counties established during Arkansas’s time as part of the Missouri Territory. This county was dissolved in 1838.
It was reorganized on December 22, 1874, during the Reconstruction period, from a portion of neighboring Lafayette County.
