McNairy County is located on Tennessee’s southern border with Mississippi.

Sheriff Buford Pusser was the sheriff of McNairy County from 1964 to 1970, and his story was told in the Walking Tall film series.

The county has a total area of 564 square miles (1,460 km2), of which 563 square miles (1,460 km2) is land and 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2) (0.1%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
