McIntosh County is a county in the state of Oklahoma in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 18,941 people living there.
Eufaula is the county seat.
The county is named after a powerful Muscogee Creek family.
Members of this family led the move of the Lower Towns to Indian Territory and were leaders for many years.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 712 square miles (1,840 km2), of which 618 square miles (1,600 km2) are land and 94 square miles (240 km2) are water, or 13%.
Eufaula Lake, which is the largest reservoir in the state, is responsible for a lot of the water surface. Lake Eufaula State Park, which used to be called Fountainhead State Park, is closest to the city of Checotah.
The Deep Fork River, the North Canadian River, and the Canadian River all flow through the county and drain it.
