Marshall County is a county in the middle of Oklahoma’s south central border.
As of the census in 2020, there were 15,312 people living there.
Madill is the county seat.
The county was made out of what used to be Pickens County of the Chickasaw Nation when Oklahoma became a state in 1907.
It was named after the maiden name of George Henshaw’s mother, who was a member of the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention in 1906.
The Texoma region includes the county and its cities.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 427 square miles (1,110 km2), 371 square miles (960 km2) of which are land and 56 square miles (150 km2) of which are water, or 13%.
It has the smallest land area of any county in Oklahoma and is the third-smallest county in terms of total area.
