Marshall County is a county in the northwest of the state of Minnesota in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 9,040 people living there.
Warren is the county seat.
On February 25, 1879, the Minnesota legislature made the county out of the southern half of Kittson County.
Warren, which was first laid out that same year, became the county seat.
It got its name from William Rainey Marshall, who was governor of Minnesota from 1866 to 1870.
The county covers an area of 1,813 square miles (4,700 square kilometers), of which 1,775 square miles (4,600 square kilometers) are land and 38 square miles (98 square kilometers), or 2.1%, are water.
Marshall is one of 17 counties in Minnesota’s savanna region where savanna soils make up most of the land.
