Marshall County is a county in the far western part of the United States state of Kentucky.
The population was 31,659 at the time of the 2020 census.
Benton is the county seat.
Marshall County is the only county in the Purchase Area that does not border another state; a thin strip of land in nearby Livingston County separates it from the Ohio River and the Illinois border.
It had been a dry county until July 28, 2015. Residents approved off-premises alcohol sales on that date, making it a “wet” county.
The county has a total area of 340 square miles (880 km2), of which 301 square miles (780 km2) is land and 39 square miles (100 km2) (11%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
The Tennessee River and Kentucky Lake constitute the county’s northeastern border.
