Madison County is a county in the middle section of the United States state of Kentucky.

Its population was 92,701 according to the 2020 census.Richmond is the county seat.

The county is named for Virginia statesman James Madison, who went on to become the United States’ fourth President.

The county is included in the Lexington-Fayette-Richmond-Frankfort, KY Combined Statistical Area as part of the Richmond-Berea, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The county has a total area of 443 square miles (1,150 km2), of which 437 square miles (1,130 km2) is land and 6.0 square miles (16 km2) (1.3%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
