Lubbock County is a county in the state of Texas in the United States.
The 2020 census said that there were 310,639 people living there.
Lubbock is the county seat and biggest city.
The county was made in 1876, and in 1891 it was put together.
It is named after Thomas Saltus Lubbock, a Confederate colonel and Texas Ranger (some sources say his first name was Thompson).
The Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) includes Lubbock County, Crosby County, and Lynn County.
The Lubbock–Levelland Combined Statistical Area is made up of the Lubbock MSA and the Levelland Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is just Hockley County.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 901 square miles (2,330 km2), of which 896 square miles (2,320 km2) are land and 5.1 square miles (13 km2) (0.6%) are water.
