The county is named after Lewis F. Linn, a Missouri senator who advocated for American settlement of the Oregon Country.
Linn County is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Salem, OR-WA Combined Statistical Area, as is the Albany, OR Metropolitan Statistical Area.
It can be found in the Willamette Valley. Linn County, near Lyons, had the highest population density in Oregon in 2010.
