Liberty County is a county in the state of Montana in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 1,959 people living there.
Chester is the county seat.
The area that would become Liberty County was split off from Hill and Chouteau counties in 1919, and the organisation was given permission to start the following February.
Tiber Dam is a popular place to visit and spend time in the southwest corner of Liberty County.
Liberty County is in the north of the state, so it is right on the border between the United States and Canada. It is next to Alberta, which is a province in Canada.
The US Census Bureau says that the county covers a total area of 1,447 square miles (3,750 km2), of which 1,430 square miles (3,700 km2) are land and 17 square miles (44 km2) (1.2% of the total area) are water.
