Lee County is a county in North Carolina, United States.

The population was 63,285 at the time of the 2020 census.

Sanford is the county seat.

On March 6, 1907, it was formed from parts of Chatham and Moore counties and named after General Robert E. Lee, who served as General in Chief of the Confederate Armies in 1865.

Lee County is part of the Sanford Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is part of the Fayetteville-Lumberton-Laurinburg, NC Combined Statistical Area, which had a population of 854,826 in 2019.

The county has a total area of 259 square miles (670 km2), of which 255 square miles (660 km2) is land and 4.1 square miles (11 km2) (1.6%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
