LaSalle County is in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is in the Fox Valley and Illinois River Valley areas.

LaSalle County is in Northern Illinois. It is in the Ottawa, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area.
On January 15, 1831, Tazewell County and Putnam County merged to make LaSalle County.
It is named after René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, a French traveler from the 1600s.
The county has a total area of 1,148 square miles (2,970 km2), of which 1,135 square miles (2,940 km2) are land and 13 square miles (34 km2) (1.1%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.[14] It has the second most land area in Illinois and the fourth most overall area.
