The whole of Lafayette County is part of the Oxford, MS Micropolitan Statistical Area. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department keeps order in the county.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 679 square miles (1,760 km2), of which 632 square miles (1,640 km2) are land and 47 square miles (120 km2) are water, or 7.0%.[4]
