Klickitat County is a county in the state of Washington in the United States.
As of the census in 2020, there were 22,735 people living there.
Goldendale is the county seat and biggest city.
The Klickitat tribe gave the county its name.
On December 20, 1859, Walla Walla County was split into two parts to make Klickitat County.
Samuel Hill was one of the first people to work to improve the area.
He pushed for better roads and built Maryhill Stonehenge, a war memorial that looks like Stonehenge, and a house that later became the Maryhill Museum of Art.
He is remembered by the Sam Hill Memorial Bridge that crosses the Columbia River.
The US Census Bureau says that the county covers a total area of 1,904 square miles (4,930 km2), of which 1,871 square miles (4,850 km2) are land and 33 square miles (85 km2) (1.7% of the total area) are water.
