Jackson County is in the western part of the U.S. state of Missouri, right next to the state line with Kansas.

As of the census in 2020, there were 717,204 people living there.

It has more people than any other county in the state except for St. Louis County in the east.

The most populated county in the Kansas City metro area, it is mostly made up of detached single-family homes and is mostly suburban.

The US Census Bureau says that the county covers 616 square miles (1,600 km2), of which 604 square miles (1,560 km2) are land and 12 square miles (31 km2) are water, or 1.9%.
